Michael Stones, PhD, is a Professor of Psychology at Lakehead University and has also held positions at the Open University in the U.K., at Memorial University, and the University of Waterloo, as well as working as a clinical psychologist in many settings. Dr. Stones' research expertise includes the quality of later life and the retention or decline of abilities with age. The former focuses on support structures for continuing health care (e.g., home care, long-term care homes, and complex continuing care hospitals). The latter examines factors that promote or detract from the retention of an individual's abilities using games and sport as sources of data. His teaching interests include Aging and Cognition, Psychology and Aging, and Psychogerontology.
