I joined the Centre for Rural and Northern Health Research as a Research Assistant in January 2008.

I received my Bachelor of Arts (Hons), Combined Specialization in Sociology and Law & Justice from Laurentian University in 2004. I am now currently undertaking my Master of Public Health at Lakehead University, located in Thunder Bay, Ontario.

Prior to joining CRaNHR, I had 3 years progressive experience in a research assistant capacity in a variety of social and health related projects dealing with the working poor in the Sudbury District, women's health in northern Ontario and workplace wellness initiatives for City of Greater Sudbury employees. I have assisted with data entry and analysis, survey development and administration and other research support duties while working at the municipal level and public health unit.

My role here at CRaNHR is diverse: I am responsible for organizing the Health Care Research Seminar Series, and providing support to two major research projects: Multi-Year Tracking Study of the Students and Graduates of the Northern Ontario School of Medicine and the Trauma System Development in Canada: Overcoming the Challenges of Geography through an Evaluation of Structure and Process. I also assist with data entry and coordinate university students and co-op students with a variety of research related tasks, such as transcribing, and survey mail outs.

When not busy with CRaNHR activities, I am a volunteer Community Food Advisor through the Sudbury & District Health Unit, where I facilitate cooking demonstrations and promote safe and nutritious food selection, preparation and storage practices to Sudbury area residents. In addition, I am a published poet in the newly established Laurentian University's English Arts Society Literary Journal.
