  • insure that patients, informal caregivers, and other formal caregivers are kept in the loop
  • insure the patient/informal caregiver has a number to call if necessary
  • insure that patient/informal caregiver knows what other services are available (perhaps services they can purchase)

2.Knowledge
  • teach patient/informal caregiver about their treatment and what they can do to help themselves
  • find out what they know and supplement this knowledge

3.Waiting time
  • make sure that patient/informal caregiver has a clear understanding of the schedule of treatment

4.Professional conduct
  • insure that caregiver arrives at the home using a polite, cheery, professional communicative style
  • your attitude towards the patient/informal caregiver will affect their perception of the quality of the care being provided

5.Proactive
  • encourage the patient/informal caregiver to be proactive
