Since 2003, CRaNHR has been a partner in the Indigenous Health Research Development Program (IHRDP) with the University of Toronto, McMaster University, and Lakehead University/Northern Ontario School of Medicine. The goal is to enhance and develop the Aboriginal research environment by fostering partnerships between Universities and First Nations, Métis and Inuit communities and organizations. CRaNHR's role is to support indigenous research and knowledge translation, ensuring that First Nations, Aboriginal communities, researchers, and provincial stakeholders are made aware of research needs and opportunities. The IHRDP provides funding for Aboriginal health research, including scholarships for Ontario graduate students, grants for community-based research, and proposal development supports. The organization also sponsors annual summer institutes, which provide opportunities for graduate students and community researchers to address issues related to research with Aboriginal communities.
